Cementir aims to support sustainable construction
As a member of the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) our commitment is to drive down our operations’ CO2 footprint and aspire to deliver society with carbon neutral concrete by 2050. GCCA works across the built environment value chain to deliver this aspiration in a circular economy, whole life context.
The GCCA is an association dedicated to developing and strengthening the sector’s contribution to sustainable construction, to fostering innovation along the entire value chain and to enhancing collaboration with industry associations.
Through the GCCA in 2019 we joined Innovandi, a global cement and concrete research network connecting cement industry and scientific institutions to drive new ways of working and support global innovation with research.
Sustainability creates value for our business, our shareholders and society and we aim to promote initiatives and most innovative technological solutions to minimize the impact of our business on the environment, to create a healthy, safe and inclusive work environment, to respect human rights and create constructive and transparent relationships with local communities and business partners. Putting our innovation to work, we developed a strategy for climate change to achieve a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions per ton by 2030 with a pivotal role played by FUTURECEM®.
In addition to GCCA membership, Cementir actively participates in global and national carbon-related industry policy and is also member of several associations to create a more sustainable cement industry, such as: the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the European Cement Research Academy (ECRA) and the European Cement Association (Cembureau).
